Show your love for Albuquerque by volunteering with ABQ Involved on Feb. 10th in a special pre-Valentine’s Day event! The event kicks off at our ABQ Involved office in the Weems Hazen law firm at 106 Wellesley Drive at 8:00 a.m. with free breakfast burritos, bagels, donuts, and coffee. Volunteers will receive their work details and head to their projects. All volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops, please).
One work group will build a ramp for The New Mexico Ramp Project, a nonprofit that provides free ramps for older adults and people with mobility issues across New Mexico. Building the ramp may take up to five hours, but we expect to finish early and appreciate any time you can give.
A second group will volunteer at the Storehouse Food pantry, one of NM’s largest food pantries that offer free groceries to people in need. Volunteers will sort food, work directly with families shopping for food, load groceries, and help the Storehouse's small staff until approximately 1 pm. Again, if you cannot stay the full time, we appreciate any time you have to volunteer.
A third work group will help at Locker 505, sorting clothes for this nonprofit student clothing bank that provides school-appropriate clothing for K-12 students in Bernalillo County.
Kids also have an opportunity to make Valentine’s Day cards to send people who could use a thoughtful message.
