Help for Grandparents raising Grandchildren

  • Albuquerque Involved 108 Wellesley Dr SE Albuquerque, NM, 87106 United States (map)

Silver Horizons’ mission is to been to provide critical help to extremely low income seniors, and the grandchildren they are raising. Silver Horizons helps with life’s basics: groceries, household bills, and minor home repairs/retrofits. Most of the seniors we assist live on less than $900 per month. Almost 39% of the seniors Silver Horizons serves are raising their grandchildren.   Our community is stronger and healthier when seniors and their grandchildren have enough food to eat. The measurable benefits are easy to see: It is difficult to succeed in school, or life in general, when people are hungry, or having to make choices between basic life expenses, school supplies, medications, and food. Typically, other expenses win when competing with food.

Please join in our effort to support Silver Horizons and the families they serve. We will collect donations through December 31, 2020.

There are two ways to help Silver Horizons in December:

  1. Drop off essential items: Silver Horizons is in need of household and grocery items to provide to their families. Specifically, we are collecting: toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissue (Kleenex), non-sweet cold cereal, mac and cheese, soup and cat food. If you’d like to purchase these items, we will get them to Silver Horizons. To schedule a time to drop off these items to us, please contact us at shana@abqinvolved.org or (505) 695-2613 (call or text).

  2. Monetary donations: In many instances, Silver Horizons is able to buy needed items in bulk and at a discounted price. By supporting Silver Horizons with your monetary donation, you make the most impact. Click below to donate. ABQ Involved will grant 100% of your donation to Silver Horizons.
